Leave Addis Ababa and drive towards Debre Zeit, Modjo, koka and visit the hippo pools. After this tour proceed to Nazareth (Adama) for lunch. After lunch, continue through the magnificent panoramic view of the countryside to Awash National Park. Dinner and overnight in Awash town or camp by the bank of the river. After breakfast the next day, game drive in the national park to see some animals including oryx, greater and lesser Kudus, water bucks, warthogs and various species of beautiful birds. Then visit the spectacular Awash falls and the deep rugged gorges below. Return to camp or Awash town for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast on the 3rd day, proceed towards Harar. Lunch en route. Reach Harar late in the afternoon. After an hour’s rest at your hotel, drive to the town to visit the famed hyena man and see these grotesque animals being fed by hand. Return to the hotel. Morning of the 4th day, sight-seeing of Harar, a 16th century walled city. After lunch, drive to Dire Dawa through Alemaya villages and green fertile plateau. Dinner and overnight at Dire Dawa. After breakfast on the last day, drive back to Addis Ababa. Lunch en route.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight to Dire Dawa. The flight will take 40 – 45 minutes and transfer to the hotel. Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon, drive 54km from Dire Dawa to Harar up the escarpment of the Rift Valley which is a memorable experience. On your way, you pass through lakes Adele and Alemaya. Then you travel through the rich and green farmland and the colorful Chat market of Awedai. Late in the afternoon, sight-seeing in Harar including the museum and the mosques. There are 99 mosques. Harar is considered to be the 4th most holy city of Islam.
Visit the wall of Harar which has got Five Gates. Late at night, the Hyena man will be visited. Dinner and overnight in Harar.
After breakfast, on the second day, depart for sight-seeing of Harar including the Wall which has got five gates, the palace of Ras Mekonen, Rimbaud’s house, named after the French poet who chose Harar as his city of exile from French intolerance. Then see the market area which is very colorful. Afternoon, drive in Dire Dawa and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Dire Dawa. On the last day, leave the hotel for sight-seeing of Dire Dawa including Afeteissa and the Chat Market. The Market place is frequented by camel-herding Oromos, Somalis, Issas and Afars. Visit some caves near the town with prehistoric cave paintings. Lunch in Dire Dawa. Late in the afternoon, transfer to the airport for a flight to Addis Ababa.
